Common questions
Which formats does it read and write?
It reads MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, FLAC, OGG, Opus, WMA, AIFF, ALAC, AMR and CAF audio, and the sound from MP4, M4V, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI and 3GP videos. It writes MP3, M4A (AAC), M4A (Apple Lossless), WAV, FLAC, OGG, Opus, AIFF and WMA.
A file says it is protected
Files with copy protection (DRM), such as some purchased WMA files, M4P files from old iTunes purchases or Audible books, cannot be converted. The app does not remove DRM.
How do I convert from File Explorer?
Select one or more audio or video files, right-click, choose Audio Converter and the format. On Windows 11 the entry is in the first menu. The files are converted in the background with your saved settings and a notification tells you when they are done.
My CD is not found on MusicBrainz
Type the album, artist and track names on the CD Rip page and rip as usual. If you like, you can add the disc to MusicBrainz so it is found next time.
The CD Rip page shows no drive
Ripping needs a CD or DVD drive, internal or USB. Check that Windows shows the drive in File Explorer and that an audio CD (not a data disc) is inserted.
Where are my converted files?
By default next to the originals, with the new extension. You can choose another folder in Settings. Existing files are never overwritten: a number is added to the name instead.
Can I use my own FFmpeg?
Yes. In Settings, choose "Use my own FFmpeg folder" and pick a folder containing ffmpeg.exe and ffprobe.exe. The source of the bundled copy is on the source page.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything happens on your PC. See the privacy policy.
